Basically, it is the perfect excuse and reason to eat terribly.....
or is it?
You can still make sure game day won't be a blip on your resolutions or weight loss goals by following simple rules. And I promise, as a big sports guy fully aware of the tailgating fun, your food will still fulfill every craving and taste amazing! Here's a couple last minute sure-fire game day cuisines to enjoy for your game!
Chicken Nachos - Easy and quality. That's why we love nachos. Want to make sure they're still taking care of you? After you spread out the chips on a baking sheet, layer on grilled chicken, peppers, onions, and black beans. Cook for 10 min. At the 8 minute left mark, add some hormone free fresh-shredded cheese until its melted. Once done, spread on healthy levels of guacamole and salsa and serve. Delicious and simple. Here are a couple keys to making this play count:
1. Stay away from cheap cheese (velveeta, etc.), that is likely loaded with harmful byproducts
2. Load up on veggies. Did I miss something you love? Just add it in - green onion, jalapeño and more.
3. Go for the Guac! Healthy fats add some richness and only enhance the flavor.
Hungry Man Sandwich by Carol Alt - This serious sandwich has become our house favorite. Add some turkey or roast beef if you must. Just don't underestimate the meatiness of this powerhouse.
On whole grain bread (you could even make some yourself in just over an hour) spread some olive oil and avocado then sprinkle sea salt and cayenne pepper on the oil/guac mixture. Next stack up tomato slices, romaine lettuce, sprouts and a thick slice of white cheddar cheese. Top it with the other slice of bread and dig in. If you make it right, you'll have to stretch to take a massive bite. And fair warning, it makes other sandwiches seem boring!
Are you ready for game day? Sounds delicious! I'll be watching!
