Here are a few simple reminders of daily practices that keep you healthy, strong, and vital.
Drink water: It's cleansing, rejuvenating, and even can curb hunger. Staying hydrated is important. And while there may be different opinions on how much we should drink in a day (8 glasses, half your body weight in ounces, etc), just putting a conscious effort forward to increase our water intake is known to have healthy benefits. Try this one thing, drink a glass of water when you wake up before grabbing breakfast or having your cup of coffee or tea.
Exercise: Increase blood flow, improve mood, build strength, and make your entire healthier with exercise. Quick tip: you get the greatest benefit from the first 7-10 minutes of exercise. Even if all you begin with is a 10 minute walk around the block, you're getting great benefits.
Sleep: Recently an interview with a prominent neurologist noted that the 2 best activities to have a strong, healthy brain throughout life are exercise and sleep. Make your room cool, have a good mattress and pillow, and get your shut eye for prolonged health and wellbeing.
De-Stress: World seems crazy right now. We all feel the stress. But we all know that stress has severe effects on our health. Use apps like "Three Good Things" to find positive things to feel good about each day. Sit in nature or play with your kids. The relaxation is vital for your daily health as well as helping you fight off current spreading infections.
We may not be able to completely eliminate the chance of getting COVID or being effected by various illnesses. But remembering that simple practices, used often if not daily, can help you overcome sickness and get back to life is more critical than ever.
